KEY TAKEAWAYS
- Expiry dates for every family member recorded
- Sponsor and role changes reviewed
- Current evidence and nomination requirements checked
Review the business and position again
Check sponsorship validity, the employing entity and the proposed role. Identify changes in duties, location, salary or business structure since the earlier nomination. A previous approval does not mean those facts can be copied without review.
Assess whether fresh recruitment evidence or other nomination material is required. Current income thresholds and applicable occupation rules may differ from those used for the original application. Keep the existing grant and nomination records available for comparison.
Check the worker and family evidence
Review current English and assessment evidence where relevant, passport details, health and character matters and any changes in family composition. A document accepted previously may no longer meet a timing requirement.
Make a plan for each family member. Do not assume a primary worker’s further application automatically extends every dependant’s visa. Different expiry dates or family members who joined later can require particular attention.
Build a calendar before the last month
Allow time for recruitment, documents and any required testing. Obtain advice on valid lodgement, bridging arrangements and travel if applying onshore. A nomination alone does not keep the worker lawfully in Australia after visa expiry.
For illustration, a worker who changed roles during the first grant may need more than updated payslips for the next nomination. Emigrate Lawyers can assess the present arrangement and help coordinate the employer, worker and family steps with the deadline in view.
