WHO WE HELP

A job offer.
A change of direction.

You may be overseas with a prospective sponsoring employer, already in Australia, changing employment or planning to include your family. Each starting point raises different questions.

PREPARATION THAT FITS YOUR POSITION

More than a job title.

Start with your real work

Tell us what you do, how long you have done it and what the proposed role involves. A title on a contract may not capture the duties needed to assess the occupation.

Build a consistent employment record

Organise dated references, payslips, contracts and qualifications. Identify gaps or differences in titles and hours early, so we can discuss how the records should be explained.

Check English and skills requirements

The accepted English evidence and whether a formal skills assessment is needed require separate attention. Test dates, nationality and occupation can matter.

Think about the whole family

Tell us who intends to apply with you, who may join later and whether any child-related consent or dependency issue needs attention. Plan the family’s documents alongside your own.

Bring complications into the conversation

A previous refusal, an expiring visa, a change of employer or a gap in employment can affect the advice you need. Provide a clear timeline; do not assume the standard application steps resolve your situation.

Refusals and complex cases

Coordinate with your employer

We can identify what each party needs to prepare, subject to the agreed engagement and confidentiality arrangements.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Before you take the next step.

Do I need an employer willing to sponsor me?

The 482 is an employer-sponsored pathway. An eligible employer and suitable nominated role are central to the application. Our legal service does not include finding you employment or guaranteeing a sponsor.

Can my partner and children join me?

Eligible family members may be included or may apply as subsequent entrants. Family eligibility, sponsor consent where applicable, relationship evidence, health and character need to be considered. See our family members guide before deciding how to apply.

How much will the process cost?

The total depends on the applications required, family composition, third-party expenses and the legal work involved. Our costs guide separates employer and applicant costs; we provide a scoped legal fee proposal before engagement.

Can I change employers while holding a 482 visa?

A change of employer requires attention to your visa conditions and the new employer’s nomination arrangements. Keep records of when employment ends and seek advice before starting a new role. A job offer alone does not resolve the immigration requirements.

Does a 482 visa guarantee permanent residence?

No. Employer-sponsored permanent residence requires a separate assessment and application. Eligibility and the employer’s willingness to nominate matter; neither a 482 grant nor time in Australia creates an automatic entitlement.

Can you guarantee a decision date?

No. Departmental processing times are indicators based on other applications, not a promised deadline. We can help plan preparation and respond to requests, but Home Affairs controls its decision-making timetable.

What if my visa expires soon or I receive a refusal?

Call promptly and provide the expiry date or decision notice through a secure channel arranged with our team. Lodgement, review and bridging visa questions are time-sensitive and need individual assessment. Do not rely on a callback request to protect a deadline.
