Visa guide

Skills in Demand visa (Subclass 482)

The Skills in Demand visa is a temporary employer-sponsored work visa. A suitable role and an employer prepared to sponsor are central to the pathway. The business, position and person are assessed through connected steps; meeting one part does not guarantee the others.

Plan your pathway

A connected application, not a single checklist

The Core Skills, Specialist Skills and Labour Agreement streams have different entry points. A role’s occupation, remuneration and any applicable agreement help determine the stream. The applicant must also address their own eligibility.

Start by checking the proposed duties, employer arrangements and your current visa position. Then plan English evidence, skills assessment where required, employment history and family documentation. Do not assume an old Temporary Skill Shortage checklist captures the current Skills in Demand rules.

Choose the guide that fits your role

Applicants: assess your application and evidence.

Employers: assess business sponsorship and the nominated position.
